A general increase in the awareness of the benefits that trees provide, both individually and in aggregates has caused the issue of tree preservation to become an integral part of the land development process. Tree or forest preservation must be integrated into the early planning stages of land development. During site visits the surveyor collects data identifying individual, significant trees, and groups of similar trees.Ideally all trees along clearing limits and proximate to construction should be located by survey, plotted on a map and identified by diameter and species.
